| Christopher Nolan needs to direct the next "Punisher" film with his "Batman" run over |
In trying to put together an article for another site, I wasn't even sure where to begin.
Suffice it to say, The Dark Knight Rises - the fitting finale to Nolan's Batman trilogy - represents a stunning indictment of Hollywood for the general stream of feckless films produced today.
Christian Bale will win Best Actor; Tom Hardy will win best Supporting Actor (though he might have a tough time beating Michael Caine for his tragic performance as Alfred); and Nolan will win Best Director.
Some quick thoughts: Gotham City was looked to be inhabited by a population that was roughly 80 percent white. Even the janitors were white, plus the bulk of the political and the business leadership. Nolan's version of Gotham acts as if the past 60 years of "Civil Rights" progress never occurred.
I was right in that Bane is the new leader of the League of Shadows (LOS); powerful scene when he confronts Wayne/Batman and merely utters "Mr. Wayne"... a reminder that LOS knows his identity from the first film and the failed attempt at destroying Gotham.

Until then, enjoy this: Thomas Jane created a 10 minute short film version of Marvel's The Punisher (he portrayed the anti-hero Frank Castle in the 2004 movie) called, Punisher: Dirty Laundry. This represents an actual look at what a vigilante hero (which is what The Batman represents) would face if they confronted an America where 60 years of "Civil Rights" progress did occur.
A Modest Proposal: Christopher Nolan needs to direct (or produce) the proposed "Punisher" television show.
