Not a big fan of The Wire; nor am I fan of the musical celebrating the desegregation of Baltimore, Hairspray. However, the recent documentary on 65 percent Black Baltimore by Al Jazeera (Fault Lines: Anatomy of an American City) is worth watching.
Many of the cities in Russia have recovered after the end of the Cold War, with the restoration of their pre-Bolshevik names but a small step toward the reclamation of their former glory.
But what about American cities that have gone from majority white to majority Black (courtesy of Manifest Destruction -- what some call "The Great Migration" of Blacks) like St. Louis, Detroit, Camden, Gary, and Newark? What about the ongoing decline of Chicago?
Capitalism won the Cold War, correct? Egalitarianism and freedom triumphed over Marxism and central planning.
So why have some of the former jewels of America become so -- tarnished?
Enjoy this 25-minute documentary on the collapse of Baltimore. It had nothing to do with ideology or outsourcing; it has everything to do with race.
We could have been on Mars, but instead we had to fund Black-Run America (BRA).
We've been hairsprayed, and it ain't just Baltimore with a bad hair day.
